Luck be a lady in gold

Luck be a lady in gold

I don’t need a fortune cookie to tell me that I’m a very lucky person. All I need is to gaze upon my dazzling French Sole Starlight Glitter Ballet Flats to know that I’m the luckiest girl in the world. Yes, they are beautiful but more so, the style has been named after me. I feel so honoured that Amelie is their name and though they come in a variety of colours, the pair that I coveted is in show-stopping gold.

Considered in China to be the most beautiful of colours, gold was everywhere to be seen during my trip to London’s Chinatown for Chinese Golden Week. My new Amelie flats, showing very little toe cleavage, made for the perfect choice with these slightly colder Autumn days. They also happen to be the perfect match with my recently acquired pants made from sumptuous black velvet and a wool blazer with red embellishments.

Both red and gold, colours associated in China with happiness, luck and wealth, are everywhere to be seen in Chinatown. From the second you walk through the ornate gate with its golden dragon motifs and then when you turn onto Gerrard Street, you enter a world of rich reds and gold detailing. All around me were tokens of good luck, in the form of lanterns above your head and Chinese lucky cats waving from every shop window. It’s a world where my French Sole Amelie’s instantly felt at home and I swear that for the briefest of moments, I caught them smiling and waving back at the cats. My new flats definitely feel like happy shoes and I feel lucky for having them.

I’m very curious how other French Sole fans are styling their French Sole Amelie ballet flats in gold! Do mention #frenchsoleblogbyamelie on your Instagram and I’ll be reposting the most creative looks on our FS page.
