French Sole Sandals
I’m writing this between sips of my ice-cold Limoncello, not far from The Spanish Steps, relieved to be sitting down and giving my beautiful French Sole sandals a well-deserved rest. It seems only fair after all, as these super soft favourites of mine have been putting in some pretty hard mileage these last few days! So many piazzas and oh so many cobblestones! Clearly the descendants of the Romans weren’t thinking of a woman’s needs when engineering their streets.
But as I learnt from my previous visit to this the eternal city, you should think beauty with an emphasis on comfort while considering your wardrobe and when in Rome, do as the Romans! And though I say Romans, I rather speak of the modern romanità, our always immaculately dressed sisters, who give soul to the saying that this urban landscape is really a poem pressed into service as a city. I love how they dress, always so effortlessly chic.
So for my short trip to Italy, taking their lead, I brought along a selection of long rayon and cotton dresses as my day to night à la mode and my French Sole sandals have been the perfect footwear accessory. I may be on a Roman holiday but I most certainly won’t be scootering around this city while straddling Gregory Peck on a Vespa! Rather, I feel more like Russell Crowe in Gladiator, fighting on foot, the tourist hordes, as though they were my rivals in the arena. Yes, I’m sure you’ve heard it said before, the summertime crowds can be a challenge… Oh mamma mia! But don’t be put off making its streets one of your adventures. Yes, it is a busy place but every woman should see Rome at least once in her lifetime, wearing comfortable French Sole sandals of course!
I’m very curious how other French Sole fans are styling their French Sole sandals! Do mention #frenchsoleblogbyamelie on your Instagram and I’ll be reposting the most creative looks on our FS page.
